About the Workplace

The welfare of the future is our major challenge. To meet this challenge, we at the Employment Administration have a very important mission: We must enable residents receiving financial assistance to become self-sufficient as quickly as possible, while also helping employers find the right skills.

The Youth Unit was established in October 2025. The unit's mission is to work with young people aged 18 to 29 who are neither working nor studying. The city of Helsingborg aims to reduce this group by 20% by 2035. A portion of this target group receives social assistance. The unit faces the challenge of exploring new ways of working to achieve its goals and collaborating with other organizations in the city.

Job Responsibilities

As a study and career counselor with us, you will work to coach, guide, motivate, and follow up with residents that the Youth Unit works with, both individually and in groups. Your job is to coach and motivate young people to move on to studies or work. Studies are often the focus for this target group, and it is a challenging task to motivate them to take the next step. Therefore, you need to be a person who enjoys difficult challenges in your work tasks and is creative in how you approach them, as well as being persistent. Based on the city's study goals, you also need to support residents in their contacts with adult education, other educational providers, employers, etc., so that the resident receives the right support to follow through on their planning that should lead to regular employment.

You will meet young people where they are, which means you will be out in the city in various meetings more than you will be at a desk. We also see that we need to work more in social media, where you will be a part of that work. The job may involve working hours in the evenings and weekends on occasion. Administrative work with documentation is included.

This is a role that is varied, stimulating, and offers great opportunities for personal and team development. The role means that you can adapt to changing conditions on a daily basis.

Qualifications

• Academic degree (180 credits according to the new system) in study and career guidance.
• At least 3 years of experience in study and career guidance.
• Familiarity with using digital systems.
• Ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish.

Meritorious

• Coaching education.
• Good knowledge of labor market issues.
• Experience working with the age group.
